Drones and Geo-mapping Year 9 / Year 10 Environmental Monitoring This program explores the use drones and how they are used to map and monitor environmental changes and other variables. Online VCE – Chemistry UNIT 4: Organic Compounds Year 12 Environmental Monitoring / Medical Technologies In a LIVE online environment, students will be part of a demonstration of Infrared (IR) spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, Mass spectroscopy and HPLC. Science Week: Deep Blue – Ocean Sustainability Year 7 / Year 8 / Year 9 Environmental Monitoring / Information Technology How can we use technology to have a positive impact on our environment, cutting out non-biodegradable plastics and reducing invasive species are two important roles that we can play in helping our oceans. VCE – Chemistry UNIT 2: Analytical techniques with water Year 11 Environmental Monitoring / Food and Fibre / Medical Technologies Students analyse a range of organic salts/compounds in water, using various techniques: UV Visible spectroscopy, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. VCE – Chemistry UNIT 4: Organic Compounds Year 12 Environmental Monitoring / Medical Technologies This program explores the use chemical instruments used to separate and measure specific properties - GS-MS, HPLC-DAD, FT-IR and NMR. VCE – Physics UNIT 1: Thermodynamics Year 11 Advanced Manufacturing / Environmental Monitoring How can using IR technology improve the design and construction of houses? Students further explore these concepts by designing a dwelling with minimal energy input to maintain a habitable thermal environment. Water: Treatment and Recycling Year 7 Environmental Monitoring / Information Technology / New Energy Technologies Students investigate the Western Treatment Plants water recycling system and compare how Australia is doing compared to the rest of the world.
