In partnership with Swinburne University of Technology, the KIOSC Trade Training Centre offers nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training in schools (VETis) courses. VETis is a government initiative that offers students a chance to complete VCE at school while undertaking vocational studies in a particular industry or field.
Courses offered at KIOSC are in identified areas of skill shortage and provide pathways into trade apprenticeships or higher education. Students completing VCE with a vocational component have improved opportunities for gaining employment. Vocational qualifications can articulate into further study at Certificate IV or Diploma level.
Students studying a VETis program attend KIOSC on a weekly basis as a part of their normal school timetable. Students completing a VETis qualification through KIOSC will have access to the Swinburne University of Technology Guaranteed Entry Scheme.
Through linkages with our KIOSC Connect Program and Pathways Partners, including Knox City Council, local businesses and the Outer Eastern Local Learning and Employment Network (OELLEN), students can access structured workplace learning, industry placements, cadetships and traineeships as part of their vocational studies.
